A night time Teddy Bear

Progress report:
Still working on the comic book. I think its has to be the trickiest project I've worked on in a long time, so many restarts. I'll post the first page in a few days. Also I'm doing another band poster, I'm having a lot of fun with this one (monsters and rainclouds). I'll post that soon.
Cheers!

Hello...
My web “presence” has been lacking as of late, but I’ll be back on it as of now. I’ve got a few things in the pipeline right now. I completed an art piece for the Minneapolis institute of Arts - Foot in the Door. Once every ten years, any artist from the Minnesota area can submit a 12x12 inch work of art.
If you are in the Minneapolis area this Thursday the 18th, I’d suggest you check it out. I had a lot of fun making a new piece for the show; it’s a multi-layered illustration. Sort of like when animation cells are stacked to create depth of field. I’ll have photos of it when I go to the show, so you all will know what the hell I’m talking about.
Also I’m ACTUALLY making a comic with my friend Josh, which he’ll be writing it. It’s a very daunting project. I have never done a comic over four pages (sad I know) and I’ve had a lot of false starts in my day. I’ve only been doing character sketches and a few thumbnail layouts for now. It’s a do or die mentality for me with this comic. I need to do this to prove to myself I can do a long form comic, I’m not getting any younger.
And on the professional side of my life. The project I’ve been working on the last year has been killed. It was a bummer, but it hasn’t affected me too badly. Now it’s literally back to the drawing board. Though I hate to admit the new concepts I’ve been drawing really drains me creatively outside of work. When I get home I just want to zone out and play the PS3. I shouldn’t complain, I do get paid for it… I wish I could show you all the drawings. But my company disclosure contract won’t allow it.
Whew… less typing… more drawings!

Some assembly required...

This how I've worked for years now. I pencil & ink my work in various pieces usually on to three to four pages of paper. Then I scan them all into the computer and do the layout in Photoshop. I suppose my background in Ad design now lends to my control freak nature (the only thing in my life were I have this "OCD" problem) where I can completely manipulate the drawings. I'll do some abstract water colors to round out the eventual background of the image. The Soldier Goose and the Maple Seeds will all make sense in a couple of days. Nah... it will still be confusing I suppose...
